BCU Equivalency Test

The BCU equivalency test is for people that are interested in applying to the teacher training programmes at Harrogate Tutors. The BCU equivalency test is not applicable to other Universities or other alternate teacher training paths. As the BCU is an internally set exam, it has not been internally evaluated or standardised. Subsequently, there is no way of knowing if the content is at a GCSE level or, if the pass mark corresponds with the GCSE grade boundaries in any way. A BCU equivalency exam result is not the same as a GCSE grade, and it cannot be used for anything other than gaining entry to BCU's PGCE teacher training programmes.

Who has to sit the BCU equivalency test?

It may be a requirement for those who do not have a GCSE in Maths, English, or Science to complete a BCU equivalence exam in order to enroll in PGCE programmes.

Will my training provider accept a BCU equivalency test result?

If you are not applying to BCU, you should look at alternative equivalency providers.

What is the cost of a BCU equivalency test?

The cost varies depending on the subjects and the number of tests required. Before any examination can be arranged, BCU has a fixed administrative charge that must be paid in advance.

What is in the BCU maths equivalency test?

The BCU mathematical equivalence test covers a range of key GCSE topics, however, it is not based on any recognised GCSE specification or exam board.

What is in the BCU English equivalency test?

The test covers elements of the GCSE English language specification to a degree but is not aligned or benchmarked to any specific exam board.

What is in the BCU Science equivalency test?

The following are the topics for the AQA combined science exam. Although it’s unclear why some themes were chosen, and the page URLs provided on the BCU website don't seem to correspond to the subject matter, following topics seem to be discussed.

Cell Biology
