National Tutoring Programme

Harrogate Tutors, a part of the MME group, have been chosen as a DfE-Approved tuition provider for the National Tutoring Programme. Please note that only schools are eligible to participate in the programme, and enrollment must be completed through subject teachers, rather than parents. At present MME is providing NTP tutoring for maths, English, and science specifically for GCSE students. However, the programme may be expanded in the coming weeks and months. If you're a parent who is interested in providing additional support for your child, which is fully funded through their school, we recommend contacting your school directly and inquiring about MME as a provider.

Here are some FAQs, which cover common queries from parents, students, and even teachers

What is the National Tutoring Programme?

It was initially created to help students catch up after the extended break caused by the pandemic, the National Tutoring Programme has proven highly effective and has subsequently been extended to provide ongoing support and tuition to schools. The NTP is a government initiative aimed at providing schools with the funding necessary to offer 1-2-1 or group tuition, ensuring their students can achieve academic success.

How does the NTP funding work?

Each school is provided with £162 per pupil, which can be utilised to support any student through the programme. The funding is allocated at three different intervals during the school year, specifically September, December, and April. Schools are permitted to claim up to a maximum of £18 per hour per student for the tuition provided, covering approximately 60% of the total tuition cost.

Is the NTP tuition online or in person and is it in groups?

There are a variety of options available through the National Tutoring Programme, including both in person 1-2-1 tuition and online group lessons. Generally speaking, 1-2-1 tuition conducted in person is likely to be more costly than participating in online group lessons.

How does the dfe national tutoring programme make a difference?

Evidence suggests that the National Tutoring Programme has made a positive impact on students who have fallen behind and require additional support to catch up on lost learning. In particular, GCSE students have benefited significantly from the programme
